4-14-14 Michigan
After countless conversations with our doctors and a lot of consideration, we have decided that the best next step for Ian is to take him to Michigan. While he continues to have mostly good days overall, he is still having significant respiratory distress causing him to desaturate.
In Michigan Ian will be having another major open chest surgery. They will “optimize” his heart/lungs by moving his aorta off his airway (Aortatapexy) and possibly move his pulmonary artery which compresses the airway from the opposite side. After this they will place a splint around his left mainstem bronchus to hold it open. The splint will then dissolve over a 3 year period giving his airway time to grow.
Now that we have made our decision, we need for insurance and the FDA to agree and approve the surgery. Please continue to keep Ian in your prayers.

about 10 years agoSending prayers my friend. Isn't it awful that we can't just do what we want to make our babies better, and instead we have to mess with paperwork? The world would run so smooth if they left a heart momma in charge of this stuff!! HUGS! Ian is such a rock start, he's gonna knock this outta the park!
